Housing projects provide affordable homes for Veterans in need, as well as jobs and volunteer opportunities!

Based on the January 2011 National Alliance to End Homelessness State of Homelessness report, an estimated 14,055 people experience homelessness each night in Illinois and 15% are veterans and while circumstantial factors vary, homelessness occurs when people or households are unable to acquire and/or maintain housing they can afford.

Furthermore, the National Alliance to End Homelessness reports the main reason behind this inability to and/or maintain housing is the scarcity of affordable housing.

In addition, many veterans returning from Iraq or Afghanistan are finding themselves homeless and a HUD and VA Veteran Homelessness study shows that veterans are 50 percent more likely to become homeless than other Americans.
